Abstract: An increase in atmospheric CO2 concentration since the industrial revolution has influenced not only global climate change but also leaf morphology and structure of plants. The effects of CO2 doubling on leaf morphology and structure of the Cymbidium goeringii leaf were investigated with CO2 concentrations of 370 and 700( 50) LL-1 in an artificial climate chamber for two months. Results indicated no differences(P>0.05) for leaf length and leaf thickness. However,by doubling CO2 concentration,leaf area and chloroplast content increased significantly(P<0.01),whereas epidermal cell density(P<0.05),stomatal density(P<0.01),stomatal index(P<0.01),and stomatal aperture decreased.[Ch,1 fig. 1 tab. 17 ref.]
