Abstract: As an important component in hydrological process, forest vegetation influences critically the spatial distribution of hydrological fluxes such as precipitation,evapo-transpiration,and runoff. Based on the recent research literature at home and abroad, the authors summarized the effects of bamboo forest on the spatial distribution of those hydrological fluxes, from the interfaces of crown layer, litter layer and soil layer of bamboo forest. The results indicated that the main functions of bamboo forest vegetation including protecting water resources, reserving water and soil, controlling erosion and improving water quality. However, the study of hydrological phenomena is still in the initial stage focusing mainly on Phyllostachys pubescens, and limited to single index and process. Therefore, the physical mechanisms of hydrological process should be stressed in various bamboo forest hydrology study, which was of great importance for analyzing and evaluating forest hydrology effects in different varieties, zones, and forest types.[Ch,55 ref.]
